Trainee Welfare Benefits Caseworker

£21,164.00 rising to £23,280.00 after successful 6 month probationary period

37 hours per week

Citizens Advice Bedford is the leading provider of advice services to residents in Bedford Borough.


Citizens Advice Bedford is looking for a Trainee Welfare Benefits Caseworker to work as part of a diverse and well used service, providing advice and assistance to service users with welfare benefit issues.


You will provide a welfare benefits advice service to people with the aim of maximising their income. The post holder will undertake casework, assisting clients to access their entitlements to welfare benefits and other sources of financial help. Casework will include making applications, and all aspects of welfare benefit challenges and appeals.


To be successful in this role, you will need to demonstrate subject knowledge of benefit issues and the types of benefit issues that may arise through a written assessment conducted at the interview stage. You will possess excellent client care skills and the ability to learn quickly and the skill to put this in to practice.

A commitment to the aims and principles of the Citizens Advice service is essential.
