Who We Are

The Bedford CAB has been giving high quality advice and information to local people since the Second World War. First set up in Mill Street, the Bureau moved to St Paul's Square in 2005.

At any one time we have up to 50 voluntary advisers and 10 trainees. Our staff come from all walks of life and all our advisers and assessors are trained to rigorous Citizens Advice standards. A volunteer Trustee Board supports both the staff and volunteers.

What type of enquiries do we deal with ?
The Bedford CAB handles up to 20,000 enquiries per year. We deal with a wide variety of issues including :
Debt - we provide a comprehensive money advice service
Employment - Advice on employment rights and enabling clients to exercise those rights
Consumer - Advising clients on their rights of redress against shops and traders, providing goods and services
Benefits - Benefit calculations, completing claims and helping with appeals
Housing - Problems include repossession, establishing the rights of tenants and landlords, homelessness
Family and Personal - Issues such as divorce and separation
Immigration - Issues such as citizenship and how immigration status affects a persons rights
