About Us
The Bedford CAB has been giving high quality advice and information to local people since the Second World War. First set up in Mill Street, the Bureau moved to its present location in 2005.
At any one time we have up to 30 voluntary advisers and 10 trainees. A volunteer Trustee Board supports both the staff and volunteers.
What type of enquiries do we deal with ?
The Bedford CAB handles up to 10,000 enquiries per year. We deal with a wide variety of issues including :
- Debt - we provide a comprehensive money advice service
- Employment - Advice on employment rights and enabling clients to exercise those rights
- Consumer - Advising clients on their rights of redress against shops and traders, providing goods and services
- Benefits - Benefit calculations, completing claims and helping with appeals
- Housing - Problems include repossession, establishing the rights of tenants and landlords, homelessness
- Family and Personal - Issues such as divorce and separation
- Immigration - Issues such as citizenship and how immigration status affects a persons rights
